The Appletini from "Scrubs"

The Appletini from "Scrubs"

In the TV show "Scrubs", Zach Braff plays a young attending physician named J.D. who has a penchant for appletinis that are "easy on the tini". I respect J.D.'s confidence in ordering his guilty pleasure, but let's see if we can make a better version.

EQUIPMENT

  1. Cocktail set (includes Boston shaker, jigger, bar spoon, hawthorne strainer, fine mesh strainer, julep strainer, muddler, cocktail picks)
  2. Martini glasses
  3. Nick & Nora glasses
  4. Angled measuring jigger
  5. Citrus juice squeezer

J.D.'s Appletini

  • 2oz (60ml) Sour Apple Pucker
  • 1oz (30ml) vodka
  1. Add ingredients to a shaker tin with ice
  2. Shake for 15 seconds
  3. Double strain into a martini glass

Improved Appletini

  • 1.5oz (45ml) vodka
  • .5oz (15ml) apple liqueur (I use Leopold's)
  • .5oz (15ml) fresh lemon juice
  • .5oz (15ml) simple syrup
  • 3 slices of granny smith apple
  1. Add lemon juice, simple syrup, and a couple slices of apple to a shaker tin
  2. Muddle to extract apple juice
  3. Add apple liqueur, vodka and ice to shaker tin
  4. Shake for 15 seconds
  5. Double strain into Nick & Nora glass
  6. Garnish with an apple slice
