Bart's Manhattan from The Simpsons

In Season 3, Bart narrowly escapes demise at the hands of the mob by shaking them up a Manhattan determined to be "supoib"! Here we recreate his exact recipe, make a few improvements, then make the "Perfect Manhattan" .



EQUIPMENT

  1. Cocktail set (includes Boston shaker, jigger, bar spoon, hawthorne strainer, fine mesh strainer, julep strainer, muddler, cocktail picks)

  2. Angled measuring jigger

  3. Fancy mixing glass

  4. Julep strainer

  5. Cocktail glasses

  6. Nick & Nora glasses


Bart’s Manhattan

  • 1.5oz (45ml) bourbon or rye

  • .5oz (15ml) sweet vermouth

  • 1 dash angostura bitters

  • Red maraschino cherry

  1. Add all liquid ingredients to a shaker tin with ice

  2. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass

  3. Drop in a cherry


My preferred Manhattan

  • 2oz (60ml) rye

  • 1oz (30ml) sweet vermouth

  • 2 dashes angostura bitters

  • Luxardo maraschino cherry

  1. Add all liquid ingredients to a mixing glass with ice

  2. Stir until chilled and strain in Nick & Nora glass

  3. Drop in a cherry


Perfect Manhattan

  • 2oz (60ml) rye

  • .5oz (25ml) sweet vermouth

  • .5oz (25ml) dry vermouth

  • 2 dashes angostura bitters

  • Luxardo maraschino cherry

  1. Add all liquid ingredients to a mixing glass with ice

  2. Stir until chilled and strain in Nick & Nora glass

  3. Drop in a cherry
