Daiquiri vs Hemingway Daiquiri


The daiquiri is the perfect sour cocktail. A litmus test for a good bartender, three simple ingredients but infinite ways to mess it up. So how does the classic compare to Papa's version? Oh and I throw in a wild card that blew my mind.


EQUIPMENT

  1. Cocktail set (includes Boston shaker, jigger, bar spoon, hawthorne strainer, fine mesh strainer, julep strainer, muddler, cocktail picks)

  2. Fine mesh strainer

  3. Angled measuring jigger

  4. Coupe glasses


Classic Daiquiri

  • 2oz (60ml) white rum

  • 0.75oz (22ml) simple syrup

  • 0.75oz (22ml) fresh lime juice

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with ice

  2. Shake for 15 seconds

  3. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass


Hemingway Daiquiri

  • 2oz (60ml) white rum

  • 0.75oz (22ml) fresh lime juice

  • 0.5oz (15ml) grapefruit juice

  • 0.5oz (15ml) simple syrup

  • 0.25oz (7ml) maraschino liqueur

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with ice

  2. Shake for 15 seconds

  3. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass

  4. Garnish with a lime wheel


Cocktail Codex Daiquiri

  • 1.75oz (52ml) white rum

  • .25oz (7ml) rhum agricole

  • 0.75oz (22ml) simple syrup

  • 1oz (30ml) fresh lime juice

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with ice

  2. Shake for 15 seconds

  3. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass
