How To Make La Paloma

How To Make La Paloma

La Paloma is often called the cousin of the margarita, and is quickly rising in popularity. In this video I make three versions of this refreshing grapefruit-based cocktail.



EQUIPMENT

  1. Cocktail set (includes Boston shaker, jigger, bar spoon, hawthorne strainer, fine mesh strainer, julep strainer, muddler, cocktail picks)
  2. Collins glass
  3. Angled measuring jigger 
  4. Citrus juice squeezer

Version 1: Grapefruit Soda

  • 2oz (60ml) of blanco tequila
  • .5oz (15ml) of fresh lime juice 
  • 5oz (1.5cl) of grapefruit soda 
  • Lime wedge
  1. Rub lime around rim of a collins glass and dab in salt (optional)
  2. Add ice to the collins glass
  3. Pour in lime juice and tequila
  4. Top with grapefruit soda and stir
  5. Garnish with lime wedge

Version 2: Fresh Grapefruit Juice

  • 2oz (60ml) of blanco tequila
  • .75oz (22.5ml) of fresh lime juice 
  • 1oz (30ml) of fresh grapefruit juice
  • .5oz (15ml) simple syrup
  • 1oz (30ml) chilled club soda 
  • Lime wedge
  1. Rub lime around rim of a collins glass and dab in salt (optional)
  2. Add tequila, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and simple syrup to a shaker tin
  3. Add ice and shake for 15 seconds
  4. Double strain into collins glass with ice
  5. Top with club soda and stir
  6. Garnish with lime wedge

Version 3: Low Sugar

  • 2oz (60ml) of blanco tequila
  • .5oz (15ml) of fresh lime juice 
  • 4oz (1.2cl) of fresh grapefruit juice
  • 3oz (90ml) chilled club soda 
  • Lime wedge
  1. Rub lime around rim of a collins glass and dab in salt (optional)
  2. Add ice to the collins glass
  3. Pour in lime juice, grapefruit juice, and tequila
  4. Top with soda water and stir
  5. Garnish with lime wedge
