How To Make La Paloma
La Paloma is often called the cousin of the margarita, and is quickly rising in popularity. In this video I make three versions of this refreshing grapefruit-based cocktail.
EQUIPMENT
- Cocktail set (includes Boston shaker, jigger, bar spoon, hawthorne strainer, fine mesh strainer, julep strainer, muddler, cocktail picks)
- Collins glass
- Angled measuring jigger
- Citrus juice squeezer
Version 1: Grapefruit Soda
- 2oz (60ml) of blanco tequila
- .5oz (15ml) of fresh lime juice
- 5oz (1.5cl) of grapefruit soda
- Lime wedge
- Rub lime around rim of a collins glass and dab in salt (optional)
- Add ice to the collins glass
- Pour in lime juice and tequila
- Top with grapefruit soda and stir
- Garnish with lime wedge
Version 2: Fresh Grapefruit Juice
- 2oz (60ml) of blanco tequila
- .75oz (22.5ml) of fresh lime juice
- 1oz (30ml) of fresh grapefruit juice
- .5oz (15ml) simple syrup
- 1oz (30ml) chilled club soda
- Lime wedge
- Rub lime around rim of a collins glass and dab in salt (optional)
- Add tequila, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and simple syrup to a shaker tin
- Add ice and shake for 15 seconds
- Double strain into collins glass with ice
- Top with club soda and stir
- Garnish with lime wedge
Version 3: Low Sugar
- 2oz (60ml) of blanco tequila
- .5oz (15ml) of fresh lime juice
- 4oz (1.2cl) of fresh grapefruit juice
- 3oz (90ml) chilled club soda
- Lime wedge
- Rub lime around rim of a collins glass and dab in salt (optional)
- Add ice to the collins glass
- Pour in lime juice, grapefruit juice, and tequila
- Top with soda water and stir
- Garnish with lime wedge
