Ode To The Vodka Soda
The Vodka Soda, the anti-cocktail, bringer of hydration, fuel for your dance parties. This drink may not be featured on any craft cocktail menu, but that doesn’t mean it should be ignored. Here we take this low-cal highball and create some delicious variations.
Equipment
Cocktail set (includes Boston shaker, jigger, bar spoon, hawthorne strainer, muddler)
Classic vodka soda
2oz (60ml) vodka
3-4oz (120-150ml) soda water
1 wedge of lime
Add vodka to a highball glass with ice
Top with club soda
Squeeze in lime and drop in glass
Stir the drink and add a straw
Cucumber and mint vodka soda
2.5oz (75ml) cucumber mint vodka (Ketel One)
3-4oz (120-150ml) soda water
2 slices of cucumber
Sprig of min
Add vodka to a wine glass with large ice cubes
Top with club soda
Add in cucumber
Slap the mint and tuck it into the glass
Give it a quick stir and drink without a straw to get the mint aroma
Raspberry and basil infused vodka soda
2oz (60ml) raspberry-basil vodka (recipe below)
3-4oz (120-150ml) soda water
1 sprig of basil
Add infused vodka to a highball glass with ice
Top with club soda
Garnish with basil
Stir and drink without a straw
Raspberry-basil vodka
7.5oz (220ml) vodka
250g frozen raspberries - thawed
25g shredded basil
2 NO2 cream chargers
Add all ingredients to the iSi whipper
Seal tight, charge with an NO2 container and shake gently for 5 seconds
Charge with a second NO2 container, shake for 5 seconds
Let sit for 5 minutes
Dispell gas rapidly
Open iSi whipper and let sit for 2 minutes
Strain out solids and bottle.
Use within a week for maximum flavor.
