Amaro Sour


Amaro is a category of bitter liqueur often used as a digestif after a meal. These bottles are often herbal, complex, and a great sipper. But what if we threw them into a sour template? Introducing the amaro sour, a cocktail template you need to know.


EQUIPMENT

  1. Cocktail set (includes Boston shaker, jigger, bar spoon, hawthorne strainer, fine mesh strainer, julep strainer, muddler, cocktail picks)

  2. Fine mesh strainer

  3. Angled measuring jigger

  4. Coupe glasses

  5. Rocks glasses


Amaro Sour Template

  • 1.5oz (45ml) light amaro (e.g. Averna, Montenegro, Nonino)

  • 0.75oz (22ml) bourbon

  • 1oz (30ml) fresh lemon juice

  • 0.25oz (7ml) simple syrup

  • 1 egg white

  1. Add all ingredients except egg white into a shaker tin

  2. Add ice and shake for 15 seconds

  3. Double strain back into tin

  4. Add egg white and shake for 15 seconds

  5. Pour into a chilled coupe glass

  6. Garnish with lemon twist and maraschino cherry


Blended Jägerita

  • 1.5oz (45ml) Jägermeister

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Cointreau

  • 0.75oz (22ml) fresh lime juice

  • 0.75oz (22ml) simple syrup

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender

  2. Add 6oz of cracked (about 6 or 7 cubes worth)

  3. Blend until a slushie consistency

  4. Serve in a double rocks glass with a lime wheel garnish
