The equal parts sour cocktail is a delicate balance of citrus, spirits, and liqueurs. Four ingredients, equally measured, shaken and poured into a chilled coupe. But which equal parts cocktail reigns supreme? In this video I compare the Last Word, Paper Plane, Naked & Famous, and the wild card of the group, the Industry Sour.


EQUIPMENT

  1. Cocktail set (includes Boston shaker, jigger, bar spoon, hawthorne strainer, fine mesh strainer, julep strainer, muddler, cocktail picks)

  2. Fine mesh strainer

  3. Angled measuring jigger

  4. Coupe glasses


Last Word

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Gin

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Green Chartreuse

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Maraschino Liqueur

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Fresh lime juice

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with ice

  2. Shake for 15 seconds

  3. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass


Paper Plane

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Bourbon

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Aperol

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Amaro Nonino

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Fresh lemon juice

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with ice

  2. Shake for 15 seconds

  3. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass


Naked & Famous

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Mezcal

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Yellow Chartreuse

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Aperol

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Fresh lime juice

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with ice

  2. Shake for 15 seconds

  3. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass


Industry Sour

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Fernet Branca

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Green Chartreuse

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Simple syrup

  • 0.75oz (22ml) Fresh lime juice

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with ice

  2. Shake for 15 seconds

  3. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass
