Espresso Martini - 3 Ways
The Espresso Martini is a cocktail that comes with a tagline: the drink that will wake you up and f*ck you up. But made correctly, this can be a complex and delicious drink with an incredible texture and just the right amount of sweetness. In this video I discuss my preferred ingredients for this classic and present 3 different versions, including one that doesn’t require an espresso machine.
EQUIPMENT
Cocktail set (includes Boston shaker, jigger, bar spoon, hawthorne strainer, fine mesh strainer, julep strainer, muddler, cocktail picks)
Basic Espresso Martini
1.5oz (45ml) vodka
1.5oz (45ml) fresh espresso
1oz (30ml) Mr. Black coffee liqueur
0.25oz (7ml) simple syrup
Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with ice
Shake for 15 seconds
Double strain into a chilled martini glass
Pro Espresso Martini
1.5oz (45ml) vodka
1oz (30ml) cold brew (how to make with Yama tower)
1oz (30ml) Mr. Black coffee liqueur
1 tsp (5ml) lemon oleo saccharum (.5oz or 12g sugar for each full lemon peel)
Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with ice
Shake for 15 seconds
Double strain into a chilled coupe glass
Garnish with a few whole coffee beans
Chemist Espresso Martini
0.5oz (15ml) 151 proof rum
0.5oz (15ml) 80 proof rum
0.5oz (15ml) Mr. Black coffee liqueur
2oz (60ml) espresso
1.5oz (45ml) hot water
Whipped cream (4 parts heavy cream to 1.5 parts Creme de Noyaux)
Make whipped cream in a cream whipper or cocktail shaker, store in fridge
Add 151 rum to double walled cappuccino glass and ignite
Swirl to heat liquid and glass, then carefully blow out fire
Add 80 proof rum, coffee liqueur, espresso, hot water, and stir
Top with whipped cream
