Pumpkin Spice Cocktails
Pumpkin spice all the things! Yeah it might be basic, but my homemade pumpkin spice syrup is delicious and makes for some amazing fall cocktails. Here we learn what the hell pumpkin spice is, how to make the syrup, and 3 tasty cocktail recipes to put it to good use. Pairs well with flannel and a North Face jacket.
EQUIPMENT
Cocktail set (includes Boston shaker, jigger, bar spoon, hawthorne strainer, fine mesh strainer, julep strainer, muddler, cocktail picks)
Pumpkin Spice Spice Syrup
Yields 14oz (400ml)
1.5 cups (350g) demerara sugar
1.5 cups (350ml) filtered water
4 cinnamon sticks or 1 tsp. (3g) ground cinnamon
1½ tsp. (2g) ground ginger
½ tsp. (1g) ground nutmeg
1 tsp. (2g) ground cloves
¼ cup (65g) canned pumpkin
Add sugar and water to a sauce pan and bring to a boil
Remove from heat and add spices and canned pumpkin
Let simmer for 10 minutes
Cool for 20 minutes and strain through a nut milk bag or cheese cloth
Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks
Pumpkin Spice Whiskey Sour
2oz (60ml) whiskey
0.75oz (22ml) pumpkin spice syrup
0.75oz (22ml) fresh lemon juice
Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with ice
Shake for 15 seconds
Double strain into a chilled coupe glass
Pumpkin Spice Irish Coffee
.75oz (22ml) pumpkin spice syrup
4oz (120ml) hot coffee
1.5oz (45ml) Irish Whiskey
1oz (30ml) heavy cream
Fill glass with hot water and dump
Add coffee to glass
Add whiskey and syrup
Give a quick stir
Lightly whip the cream
Top with cream using a spoon
Pumpkin Spice Rum Old Fashioned
2oz (60ml) dark rum
2 dashes of aromatic bitters
1/4oz (7ml) pumpkin spice syrup
Orange twist
Add a large ice cube to a rocks glass
Add all liquid ingredients to a mixing glass with ice
Stir for 45 seconds to chill and dilute
Strain into rocks glass
Express the oils of an orange peel and drop it in
