"Wake Up Juice" from Back To The Future
Back to the Future Part III taught us that Doc Brown can't handle his booze. After passing out from a shot of 19th century whiskey, he needs a quick revival. Fortunately the saloon has him covered with a secret recipe of "wake up juice". Let's dive into the script to reveal the ingredients, and try a few "improved" versions.
EQUIPMENT
Cocktail set (includes Boston shaker, jigger, bar spoon, hawthorne strainer, fine mesh strainer, julep strainer, muddler, cocktail picks)
Original Wake Up Juice
1 bottle of Tabasco sauce
1/2 cup of pickled jalapeño juice
4 tbsp mustard seeds
3 tbsp onion powder
3oz (90ml) white vinegar
Few dashes of cayenne pepper
Pour all ingredients into a beer glass and stir
Plug nose, drink with a funnel, regret your life choices
Improved Wake Up Juice #1
10oz (300ml) American lager
1/4oz (7ml) Tabasco sauce
1/2oz (15ml) jalapeño juice
1 tsp whole grain mustard
pickled pearl onions
Tajin seasoning
Rim a beer glass glass with Tajin or chili seasoning
Add Tabasco, jalapeño juice, and mustard into the glass and stir
Crack 3 or 4 cubes of ice and add them to the glass
Pour in beer, stir to combine
Garnish with pearl onions
Improved Wake Up Juice #2
2oz (60ml) mustard seed-infused bourbon (recipe below)
1 barspoon Tabasco
1 barspoon jalapeño juice
pickled pearl onions
Tajin seasoning
Rim a rocks glass with Tajin or chili seasoning
Add a big ice cube
Add Tabasco, jalapeño juice, and infused bourbon to the glass and stir for 45 seconds
Garnish with pearl onions
Mustard seed-infused bourbon
Combine 3g (1 tsp) mustard seeds with 4oz (120ml) bourbon in a mason jar
Let sit for 3 days at room temperature
Strain through a coffee filter and store in the fridge
