Pour Over Coffee Cocktails
Coffee and cocktails go together like peanut butter and chocolate, but adding coffee liqueur can throw off the balance of the drink. What if you just want a rich coffee flavor added to your favorite drinks? This pour over technique is amazing, and surprisingly easy.
EQUIPMENT
Cocktail set (includes Boston shaker, jigger, bar spoon, hawthorne strainer, fine mesh strainer, julep strainer, muddler, cocktail picks)
Pour Over Coffee
15g coffee, whole beans
Grind coffee beans on a medium-fine setting (setting 14 on the Encore burr grinder)
Put filter into coffee dripper and wet the filter
Drop in coffee grounds
Place coffee dripper over a chilled glass and slowly pour cocktail into the coffee
Manhattan
2oz (60ml) rye whiskey
1oz (30ml) sweet vermouth
2 dashes Angostura bitters
2 dashes black walnut bitters (optional)
Maraschino cherry
Add all liquid ingredients into a mixing glass with ice
Stir for 45 seconds
Pour over coffee into a chilled coupe glass and drop in cherry
Boulevardier
1oz (30ml) whiskey
1oz (30ml) sweet vermouth
1oz (30ml) Campari
Pinch of salt
Orange twist
Add all ingredients except orange twist into a mixing glass with ice
Stir for 45 seconds
Pour over coffee into a chilled coupe glass
Express orange oils over the top and garnish with the twist
Banana Cognac
2oz (60ml) Cognac
1oz (30ml) banana liqueur
2 dashes chocolate bitters
Orange twist
Add all liquid ingredients into a mixing glass with ice
Stir for 45 seconds
Pour over coffee into a rocks glass with a large ice cube
Express orange oils over the top and garnish with the twist or a caramelized banana slice
